Jakub Szczepanski

Ultra runner, mountain enthusiast, and professor of philosophy.
He has completed dozens of marathons and ultramarathons across the globe. His races include the Lewa Safari Marathon in Kenya, Lavaredo Ultra Trail in Italy, Julian Alps Ultra Trail in Slovenia, Mozart 100 in Austria, and numerous long-distance races in Poland, such as Ultra Kotlina 140, Bieg Siedmiu Dolin, and Gorce Ultra Trail. He has also finished many road marathons.

In 2023, he fulfilled one of his greatest running dreams: in addition to placing 4th in the Extreme Ultra Everest Marathon, he completed the legendary Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc — a 180-kilometer loop around the Mont Blanc massif — on September 1st. In 2024, he added the Manaslu Trail Race to his portfolio, a multi-stage race around the iconic Himalayan eight-thousander.

Professionally, he is a professor of philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy at Jagiellonian University. He is the author of several books and dozens of academic articles in the field of philosophy, and he also collaborates with international research consortia.

He is committed to making philosophy accessible beyond the walls of academia. Active on social media and his blog, he strives to uncover the philosophical dimensions of everyday life in his posts and reflections.

He is also engaged in business, having co-founded the design and production company Kraft, which he has helped develop for many years. As an advocate of personal growth, he created a training program called Philosophy in Business, aimed at applying philosophical insights to the corporate world.
