ACADEMIC PATRONAGE
Jagiellonian University, Faculty of Philosophy

The RunGHT project is under the academic patronage of the Faculty of Philosophy at Jagiellonian University, one of Poland’s leading centres for philosophical research. The philosophical dimension is not an optional addition; it lies at the very heart of the project. RunGHT is not a sports project accompanied by philosophy. It is a philosophical project brought to life through sport.

You could say that the Himalayas become a philosophical laboratory here. However, it is not a laboratory where the outside world is studied. The subject of study is man himself. His physical and mental capabilities. His way of reacting to difficulties. His ability to make decisions. His ideas about himself.

HONORARY PATRONAGE
EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND IN NEW DELHI

The project has been granted the Honorary Patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi. This special distinction highlights the international character of the initiative and its role in strengthening relations and promoting Poland internationally.

The Embassy’s patronage is an important recognition of the project’s idea and values, as well as an additional source of motivation in pursuing our mission in the Himalayas.

Sports Psychologist
Karol Rucikowski

A sports psychologist whose academic and professional training was completed at SWPS University and the Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw. In his daily practice, he draws on scientific research and mindfulness-based methods to help athletes build mental resilience and optimise performance.

He brings a genuine passion for learning and professional development to his work with people. He places great value on continuously expanding his expertise, grounding his practice in reliable research, and sharing these findings with athletes so they can be applied effectively in everyday training.

For approximately ten years, he has worked with athletes from a wide range of disciplines and at different levels of experience — from recreational athletes to members of national teams. This long-term experience has given him a deep understanding of the entire development process and allows him to guide athletes through its various stages with sensitivity and precision. One of the most significant professional challenges in his career was contributing to the preparation of Polish national athletes team for the Tokyo 2021 Paralympic Games.
He also supports individuals undertaking demanding challenges in mountain and endurance environments, including ultra-runners, climbers, and enthusiasts of long-distance trekking in the Alps and the Himalayas.

In his private life, he divides his time between bouldering, trail running, and mountain hiking. The mountains — explored alone or with his family — are a place of rest for him, but also a space where he confronts discomfort, develops self-awareness, and learns to recognise his own limits with attentiveness.

Scientific cooperation
Insbruck University
Diego Jaén-Carrillo, PhD, Sport Scientist from the Laboratory for Environmental and Performance Physiology at the University of Innsbruck

Dr. Diego Jaén is a sport scientist specialising in exercise physiology, biomechanics, and human performance, with a particular focus on endurance and trail running. He graduated in Sport Science from the Catholic University of San Antonio in Murcia (UCAM) and holds a PhD in Health Sciences from Universidad San Jorge in Zaragoza. He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and a member of Professor Justin Lawley’s research group.

His research focuses on understanding the physiological, biomechanical, and neuromuscular determinants of endurance performance, with particular emphasis on durability—the ability to maintain physiological function and performance during prolonged exercise. His work integrates laboratory and field-based approaches to investigate trail and uphill running, exercise under environmental stressors such as heat and hypoxia, and the interaction between fatigue, locomotor biomechanics, and performance.

A further focus of his research is the development and application of wearable technologies, advanced data analytics, and digital twin approaches to monitor, model, and predict endurance performance. By combining exercise physiology, biomechanics, and data-driven methods, his research aims to translate scientific findings into practical applications for athlete monitoring, training, and performance optimisation.
